The top 2 teams in class B might be starting to separate themselves from the rest of the pack. Wahoo (9-0) remained undefeated and jumped Scottsbluff (7-0) into the top spot of our power rankings this week. The Warriors got a big win Tuesday night over Beatrice 13-12. They also shut out class C #2 Yutan/Mead in an earlier game. The Bearcats are also undefeated and continue to beat teams out west by scoring runs. Scottsbluff is averaging over 10 runs per game this season.
Blair makes the big jump up from #13 to #3 this week. The Bears had won eight straight until they lost to Norris 2-1 on Tuesday night.
The coach’s polls seem to be higher on Beatrice than our computer rankings. We will have to see how that plays out over the season. The Lady Orange lost the thriller to Wahoo as well as to Millard South and Northwest. All three of those are tough teams. Expect to see Beatrice continue to rise in the power rankings, especially if Millard South continues to win and Northwest stays highly ranked.
Reminder, these rankings are based on a computer formula. This isn’t a coaches poll or Prepfastpitch.com staff vote. We plug in the game scores and the computer figures out the rankings. We don’t do any adjustments for the margin of victory. Winning against better teams helps you the most and losing against worse teams hurts you the most. Over time, the best start to rise to the top.
