Gretna won the Kaiti Williams Leadoff Classic last weekend to stay undefeated and at the top of the Class A power rankings. The Dragons are the only undefeated team in class A. They continue to win close games with strong pitching and solid defense. Behind Gretna the rankings are tight and any team could get hot at the right time to move up.
Marian jumps over Millard North into the #2 spot this week. The two teams had been really close in points all season. The Crusaders got a big 13-4 win over the Mustangs earlier this week. It’s the second win for Marian over Millard North this season. The loss only dropped the Mustangs one spot. All three of Millard North’s losses have come to teams ahead of them in the rankings. As mentioned, two to Marian and one to Gretna.
Lincoln East sits at #4 but Millard West and Millard South are not far behind. Only 28 points separate the three teams in the rankings. Meaning any one of them could string together a few wins and move up.
Reminder, these rankings are based on a computer formula. This isn’t a coaches poll or Prepfastpitch.com staff vote. We plug in the game scores and the computer figures out the rankings. We don’t do any adjustments for the margin of victory. Winning against better teams helps you the most and losing against worse teams hurts you the most. Over time, the best start to rise to the top.
